Elghadi strikes as Abu Salim edge closer to last eight after SOAR success

A second-half strike from Mohamed Elghadi clinched a vital 1-0 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup home win for Abu Salim over Guinea's SOAR on Sunday to strengthen their knockout qualification hopes.
The Libyans dominated from the outset but had to wait until the 61st minute to make their superiority count against the Group B whipping boys.
Elghadi was quickest to react to a half-cleared cross to lash Abu Salim ahead and ultimately seal victory.
The three points leave Abu Salim firmly on course to join runaway leaders Zamalek in the quarter-finals.
They now enjoy a three-point cushion over third-placed Sagrada Esperanca with three rounds of matches to play.
Sunday's win also preserved Abu Salim's unbeaten home record at the Stade du 19 Mai 1956 this term.
Visitors SOAR created little and remain pointless after three straight defeats since the start of their maiden continental campaign.
But Abu Salim's pragmatic coach Chokri Khatoui will be delighted to see his side once more grind out victory.

Nwagua scored just before the break to help the home side win the Group C match to help them to go level on six points with the group leaders Club Africain.
