Zamalek out to solidify group dominance against Sagrada

Zamalek boss Motamed Gamal has challenged his side to tighten their stranglehold on Group B when they host Sagrada Esperanca on Saturday.

The Egyptian giants have taken maximum points from their opening two TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup fixtures against Abu Salim and SOAR Guinea.

Three more this weekend would strengthen their lead at the summit heading into the second half of the campaign next month.

And Gamal revealed he would be playing to win while demanding another "strong performance to satisfy fans" at Cairo Stadium.

"The main goal now is to lead the group," the coach stressed. "We are aware how important this game is and we want the three points."

Gamal praised his squad's "high spirit" in the countdown to the clash with third-placed Sagrada, who trail Zamalek by three points.

The Angolans are seeking to bounce back from a recent loss to Libya's Abu Salim as they bid to spoil the leaders' homecoming party this weekend.

But winger Omar Gaber has urged his teammates to keep a lid on expectations after beating Guinea's SOAR last time out.

"We don't need to overreact," Gaber said. "We must focus on this match and prevent our opponents from scoring."

The Egyptian wide man also highlighted the continued backing from Zamalek's famously vociferous fanbase.

And with partisan home support behind them, the hosts will expect to have too much firepower for the Angolan challengers.
